Practical-informational training session at Tashkent State Medical University

Today, teachers of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Informatics, and Biophysics at Tashkent State Medical University (TSMU) held an Open Day for students from medical colleges and the university's lyceum. The event was titled Second National Event for Dissemination of the Results” of I2-PLEDGE - "A New Level in Medicine: Biomedical Engineering and Digital Medicine."Modern medicine is increasingly intertwined with information technology, artificial intelligence, engineering solutions, and digital devices. Biomedical engineering, at the center of these changes, plays an invaluable role in facilitating doctors' work, enabling early detection of diseases, improving diagnostic accuracy, and elevating the quality of medical services provided to patients to a new level.

During today's event, students from three academic lyceums and four medical colleges in Tashkent, the Chilanzar District Polytechnic Institute, and the Bekabad Specialized School were able to learn about the practical significance and potential of this field.

The event was opened by TashDavTU Vice-Rector S. Baymakov, who gave the formal opening in the lyceum's lecture hall. The event was attended by M.I. Bazarbaev, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Informatics, and Biophysics; Dilafruz Ortikova, GIZ Healthcare Program Specialist; Makhmudjon Utkurov, Project Manager of the National Erasmus+ Office; D. Azimov, Leading Specialist of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care in Tashkent; Ibrokhim Abdullaev, Specialist of the Department of Engineering and Technical Personnel for Medical Equipment and Innovative Technologies at the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers; and others, who presented reports on the relevance and development prospects of biomedical engineering.

In addition, Anna Tozzi and Massimiliano D'Innocenzo, Professors from the University of L'Aquila (Italy), also participated in online presentations. During today's event, students from academic lyceums and technical schools were able to learn about the practical significance and potential of international connections established in this area through the European Union's Erasmus+ I2-PLEDGE projects and the German GIZ healthcare program.

Following this, the students actively participated in practical classes on mathematical modeling, circuit design, medical device servicing, programming, artificial intelligence in education, 3D printing and scanning, and were also introduced to biomedical engineering. Here, they learned firsthand about the practical applications of biomedical technologies, digital and early diagnostics, smart medical equipment, AI-based treatment methods, and the relationship between science and the labor market.

Times are changing rapidly, and these changes are clearly visible, especially in areas related to human health. Areas such as biotechnology, digital medicine, artificial intelligence, and biomedical engineering mark a new era in modern medicine. In particular, the integration of medicine with modern technologies in Uzbekistan, innovation centers, new laboratories, and research capabilities offer enormous opportunities for young people. The goal of today's event was to introduce students to the most advanced areas of medicine, demonstrate the future role of biomedical engineering, and give them a realistic understanding of the new opportunities created by digital medicine. They were greatly impressed.
