On February 1-2, 2025, a training seminar was held for students from Andijan’s pre-clinical schools in preparation for the launch of the Biomedical Engineering faculty at Andijan State Medical Institute (ASMI). The seminar was organized by local representatives of the I2PLEDGE program at ASMI and focused on the digital growth program aimed at improving student employment opportunities in Uzbekistan. Discussions centered on aligning the new faculty’s curriculum with European educational standards.
Two key areas were emphasized during the seminar:
1. Biomedical Equipment Technology
2. Enhancing Clinical Engineering Teaching Methods
The curriculum was structured to offer two specialization tracks, both built on a shared foundation of essential skills. Special focus was given to:
Biomedical Equipment Technology: Training in the installation, maintenance, and technical support of medical devices and equipment used for disease diagnosis and treatment, incorporating computers and electronic systems.
Additionally, advancements in clinical engineering were highlighted, particularly in collaborating with healthcare professionals to develop, test, and implement safe and effective medical technologies. The importance of training medical staff to use these technologies was also discussed. While both tracks share a multidisciplinary approach, the first track focuses on the biomedical industry, while the second emphasizes clinical applications.
